Dr. Jakob Van Acker

Dr Jakob Van Acker won the prize‘ Most valuable Master student in paediatric dentistry 2010’ at Ghent University and the ‘EAPD Young Scientist Research Award’ in 2012. He graduated in 2013 from the Master Program of Advanced Dentistry: Paediatric Dentistry and Special Care at Ghent University, Belgium. Dr Van Acker combined his academic career with private practice until 2017. From then on, he solely worked in a hospital environment. After finishing his PhD in 2021, he became the leader of team ELOHA (Equal Lifelong Oral Health for All) at the Department of Oral Health Sciences (Ghent University) while remaining head of clinic in paediatric dentistry. Dr Van Acker also teaches undergraduates and postgraduates in dental school. He is a member of the BAPD, IAPD, EAPD and IADMFR. His current aims are to help others excel as paediatric dentists and to keep publishing relevant research while maintaining continuous self-improvement.
