Prof. Sondos Albadri

Sondos is a Professor in Paediatric Dentistry and is the Vice Dean for Research and Postgraduate Studies at the University of Liverpool. She works clinically as a consultant at  Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Sondos’s research focuses on improving the quality of clinical outcomes, enhancing patient experience, and optimising care pathways, with a special interest in Dental Trauma and Children with complex health conditions. Sondos developed the PG programme in Liverpool and holds various leadership roles, including chair of the Royal College of Surgeons England Faculty of Dental Surgery research committee. She served as the President of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry in 2021/2022. Sondos is the UK Councillor for EAPD  and a member of the educational committee.

Dr. Kristofer Andersson
Public Dental Service, Region Västra Götaland, Sweden

Kristofer Andersson, DDS, PhD, is a specialist in pediatric dentistry. He works at the Clinic of Pedodontics, Public Dental Service, Region Västra Götaland, Gothenburg, Sweden and has a position as adjunct senior lecturer at the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. Kristofer is also affiliated with the Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm and Mun-H-Center – National Orofacial Resource Centre for Rare Disorders in Gothenburg.

His areas of special interest are genetics and oral health in rare diseases, tooth developmental disturbances and management of dental fear and anxiety.

Dr. Elias Berdouses

Dr. Berdouses received his Dental and PhD Degrees from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Dental School, his Certificate in Paediatric Dentistry and Master’s in Oral Biology from Rutgers University, USA.  He has taken part in two European research projects funded by EU and in two National pathfinder studies in Greece.  He has published in National and International journals and has lectured in National and International congresses and seminars. Dr. Berdouses has served as Secretary and Vice-President of the Hellenic Society of Paediatric Dentistry and as Secretary, President Elect, President and currently is Past President of the EAPD.

Dr. Henrik Berlin
Malmö University, Sweden

Dr. Henrik Berlin, assistant senior lecturer in Pediatric Dentistry, is a staff member at the Faculty of Odontology, Malmö University, Malmö, Sweden. Main research area is focused on procedural and postoperative pain in pediatric dentistry; what causes pain, who experience pain, and how does dental professionals handle potentially painful situations. His research also concerns areas such as attitudes towards dental care from the child patients’, legal guardians’, and dental professionals’ perspective. Currently, he is involved in a project where digital pain rating instrument is tested and under validation for future use. His research involves both quantitative and qualitative methods.

Prof. Agnes Bloch-Zupan
University of Liverpool, United Kingdom

Agnès Bloch-Zupan is Professor in Oral Biology at the Faculty of Dentistry, Université de Strasbourg, France. She coordinates the Reference Center for Rare Oral and Dental Diseases, CRMR O-RARES of the Strasbourg University Hospitals and affiliated French network. She created and chairs the scientific committee of the D(4)/phenodent database (www.phenodent.org) as well as the genetic diagnosis NGS tool GenoDENT. She is in charge in her hospital of the portfolio linked with the European Reference Network ERN CRANIO, where she leads the subgroup on dental developmental anomalies. She conducts translational research activities on rare diseases and their oral expressions at the Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology of Strasbourg, IGBMC, CNRS-UdS UMR7104, Inserm U1258, in llkirch.

Dr. My Blomqvist
Helsinki University Hospital, Finland

Dr. Blomqvist was awarded DDS from Helsinki University, Finland, in 2000, PhD from Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, in 2007, and completed her postgraduate training in pediatric dentistry at Helsinki University in 2016. At the moment she works at the Helsinki University Children’s Hospital both as a clinician and a researcher. Dr. Blomqvist’s research focuses on children with congenital heart defects, and children and young adults with ADHD and autism spectrum disorders. In her clinical work Dr. Blomqvist is experienced in children with chronic conditions, neuropsychiatric disorders, and pedagogical methods to manage dental care for children with autism.

Prof. Esti Davidovich
Hebrew University, Israel

Prof. Esti Davidovich, graduated from dental school in 2001 and her residency in 2005 at the Hebrew university Hadassah school of dental. She obtained her master degree at the same institution. She is clinical associate professor at the department of paediatric dentistry at the Hebrew university and Hadassah school of Medicine.

Since 2020 she is the President of the Israeli Society of Paediatric Dentistry.She has over 50 publications, comprising of research papers/books/articles. Her research and clinical interests are in the fields of digital paediatric dentistry, saliva research in medically compromised children and electric toothbrushes in children. She won research grants and prizes along the years.

Prof. Dominique Declerck
KU Leuven, Belgium

Dominique Declerck is full professor at KU Leuven (Belgium) where she is responsible for the undergraduate teaching in preventive & public health dentistry, pediatric dentistry and special care to dental trainees. She coordinates the postgraduate training program in Pediatric dentistry and Special dental care. Within the University Hospitals Leuven, she provides dental treatment to children, patients with disabilities and medically compromised patients, with main focus on preventive aspects.   

She is (co)-author of more than 150 peer-reviewed international papers.

Prof. Monty Duggal
Qatar University, Qatar

Prof Duggal obtained his dental degree and MDS in Paediatric Dentistry from India. He then immigrated to the United Kingdom and obtained his FDSRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and his PhD from University of Leeds.  He was appointed Professor and Chair of Child Dental Health at University of Leeds, Leeds Dental Institute in 1999 where he oversaw a large postgraduate programme in Paediatric Dentistry which has international acclaim.  In January 2017 he was appointed as Professor and Head of Paediatric Dentistry in Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore and then as the Vice Dean and Faculty Research Director of the National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore (NUCOHS).  In January 2021 he was invited to become the Inaugural Dean of the first College of Dental Medicine in Qatar, Qatar University. 

He has served in various senior positions, and was President of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry from 2014-2016 and has been on the board of EAPD for last 10 years.  Professor Duggal has published over 175 research papers in international journals and is author of “Restorative Techniques in Paediatric Dentistry, which has been published in 7 languages and has sold over 16,000 copies worldwide.  He is also a co-author of a textbook on Dental Traumatology and has Co-Edited “Paediatric Dentistry” by Oxford, now in its 5th edition and is the most widely followed textbook in Paediatric dentistry in the world.  More recently he authored “Paediatric Dentistry at a Glance”, published by Blackwell Willey.

He has administered research grants totaling over seven million pounds and is an internationally recognised researcher and clinician with main research interest is Cariology and Translation Research in Clinical Paediatric Dentistry, including dental traumatology and regenerative endodontics and auto-transplantation.  Apart from Paediatric Dentistry his main interest is playing and watching cricket and any time spare from work and family is devoted to this important activity.

Prof. Sotiria Gizani
National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece

Sotiria Gizani obtained her Dental Degree from the University of Thessaloniki and then completed her 6-year postgraduate studies in Paediatric Dentistry at the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven, Belgium), including the degrees of Master in dental sciences and Doctorate (PhD). Since 1998, she has been working at the Department of Paediatric Dentistry in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece), where she is currently Associate Professor and Chair of the Department as well as Director of the Postgraduate program, one of the eight EAPD accredited postgraduate programs in Europe. Dr Gizani is currently the Vice Dean of the School of Dentistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She is a Visiting Professor in the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) and the General Secretary of EAPD.

Moreover, she has published more than 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals and received international awards while she is member of the Editorial Board of the Journal ‘European Archives of Paediatric Dentistry’, Journal of Clinical Pediatric Dentistry and ‘Oralprophylaxe & Kinderzahnheilkunde’ (Springer). She has lectured in many international conferences. Her research interests focus mainly on clinical trials regarding prevention and management of caries in young children, oral health care of patients with special needs and vulnerable children as well as communication and behavior management in the dental setting.

Prof. Robert Hill
Queen Mary University of London, United Kingdom

Professor Robert Hill is a Materials Engineer. In the 1980s he was part of the group at the UK Government Chemist that won the Queens Award  for the development of Glass Ionomer Cements.

In the 1990s he became a Professor at Imperial College where he worked with Larry Hench, the inventor of Bioglass.

In 2010 he moved to the Dental Institute at Queen Mary and  filed a key patent of Fluorine containing bioglasses. This led to the founding of BioMin Technologies Ltd who now sell BioMinF toothpaste that releases calcium phosphate and fluoride and promotes remineralisation.

The technology is being exploited  further for dental varnishes, orthodontic cements etc.

Professor Hill has published over 300 papers and 25 patents and won numerous awards and is this years winner of the Chapman Medal.

Dr. Helen Isaksson
Jönköping University, Sweden

Helén Isaksson graduated at the Karolinska Institute in 1992. She is working as a Senior consultant at the Dep of Paediatric Dentistry at the Institute of Postgraduate Dental Education in Jönköping since graduation in 2006. Helén is also the Main Supervisor of the Postgraduate Education at the Dep of Paediatric Dentistry at the Institute. In 2013 she defended her doctoral thesis at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg and since 2023 a lecturer at the School of Health and Welfare at Jönköping University. Helén is secretary in the Swedish Society of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Reinhilde Jacobs
KU Leuven, Belgium

Reinhilde Jacobs is dentist, Doctor in Dental Sciences (PhD University of Leuven), periodontologist (KU Leuven) and Master in Dental Radiology (University of London). She is full professor at the University of Leuven and visiting professor at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden and the Dalian Medical University in China. R. Jacobs is heading the omfs impath research group of the KU Leuven (omfsimpath.be) and the clinical center of dentomaxillofacial radiology (UZleuven). She is Secretary General of the International Association of DentoMaxilloFacial Radiology. She is section editor of 4 journals (Clinical Oral Investigations, International Journal of Oral Implantology, European Journal of Radiology and Oral Radiology). She has received the D Collen Research Travel Award (1994), a postdoctoral fellowship of the European Commission (1994-95), the IADR Young Investigators Award (1998) and the Belgian Joachim Award in Odontostomatology (1999). In 2013, she received a Dr Honoris Causa at the “Iuliu Hatieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca.

She is involved in many multidisciplinary and interuniversity research collaborations, with a specific focus on imaging research, artificial intelligence and bioprinting. She has been actively participating in 5 European projects and is (co-)author of 5 books and more than 600 publications in peer-reviewed journals besides multiple invited lectures and publications in other journals or books.

Dr. Agneta Karsten
Karolinska Institutet, Sweden

Agneta Karsten is Head of the Unit of Orthodontics at the Department of Dental Medicine at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. She got her Dental Degree at Karolinska Institutet and her Postgraduate Orthodontic training at the University of Bergen in Norway. She defended her Ph.D.thesis at Karolinska Institutet in 1995. She became Docent (Associate Professor) in 2005 at Karolinska Institutet. Her main research topic is related to genetics and treatment of children with cleft lip and palate. She has more than 50 scientific papers published in peer reviewed journals. She lectures nationally and internationally.

She is secretary of  NEBEOP (Network of Erasmus Based European Orthodontic Postgraduate Programmes). She is responsible for the undergraduate and postgraduate  orthodontic programmes at Karolinska Institutet. She has been Head of the orthodontic cleft team in Stockholm for more than 20 years as well as Head of the Orthodontic clinic. She supervises researchstudents in all levels.

Prof. Gunilla Klingberg
Malmö University, Sweden

Gunilla Klingberg is Professor of paediatric dentistry at the Faculty of Odontology at Malmö University where she also serves as an Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor. Her research focuses on how to ensure every child’s right to good oral health, oral health of children in foster care, pain and qualitative methods applied to dental science. She is currently on a national working group for guidelines for healthcare professionals regarding child abuse.

Prof. Norbert Kraemer
Giessen University, Germany

Prof. Krämer obtained his PhD from the University of Erlangen in 1997. Between 2006 and 2009 he was the chair of the Department of Paediatric Dentistry in Dresden. In 2009 he was appointed to the Director of the Departement of Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Gießen. He was elected in different positions (2000-2004 President of the German Society of Paediatric Dentistry [GSPD], 2010 – 2012 President of the EAPD, 2015-2019 again President of the GSPD, 2017-2020 member of the Board of Directors of the IAPD. He is in the Editorial Board of several peer-reviewed journals. He has published ca. 200 research papers/books/articles.

Dr. Nick A. Lygidakis
Private Paediatric Dental Clinic, Greece

Nick A. Lygidakis is running a private clinic in Athens and until 2016 he has served as Senior Consultant and Director in the NHS Regional Dental Centre for Children in Athens. He has also been teaching in the postgraduate programs of the Universities of Leeds, UK and Giessen, Germany and in the former being Honorary Reader since 2002.

He qualified from the University of Athens and fulfilled his postgraduate training in Paediatric Dentistry in Athens, Oxford and London. He holds a MScM in Genetics, a MScD in Child Dental Health and a PhD. 

He has served as President and Secretary of EAPD and as President of the HSPD. He has been involved in the organization of a great number of European and Greek scientific and CPD activities, including the ‘EAPD Hermes and Athena’ European programs that he first introduced.  Since January 2019 he serves as Editor in Chief of the European Archives of Paediatric Dentistry.

He has 62 publications, with more than 3600 Google scholar citations, 250 abstracts and more than 300 invited lectures in Congresses and Seminars. His research and clinical interests are in the fields of dental anomalies, paediatric dental general anaesthesia, trauma, prevention and interceptive orthodontics. 

He has been awarded with various awards and distinctions, including honorary Fellowship of the Royal Society of Medicine in UK, Fellowship of the International College of Dentists and Membership of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the New York Academy of Science.

Prof. Phoebus Madianos
National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece

Dr. Phoebus Madianos is Professor and Chair of the Dep. Of Periodontology at the School of Dentistry, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has been the former Dean of the School of Dentistry and he is currently the Director of the Graduate Program in Periodontology and of the Osseointegrated Implant Center.

He has been President of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP, 2015), as well as Chair of the Scientific Affairs Committee of EFP (2016-2022) and of the organizing committee of EuroPerio10 congress (2022). He is presently Chair of the EFP Congress Committee.

He has published over 90 scientific papers in international journals, which have received over 8000 citations, in the fields of periodontal pathogenesis, periodontal medicine, perio-orthodontics and Implantology.

He has received international awards for his research activity, including the “Hans-R. Mülhemann Research Prize” from the Swiss Society of Periodontology in 1997, the “Anthony A. Rizzo Award” from the International Association for Dental Research in 2004, and the “Clinical Research Award” from the American Academy of Periodontology in 2006.

Dr. Julia Naoumova

Julia Naoumova is associate professor at the Department of Orthodontics, Institute of Odontology at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, and senior consultant orthodontist at the Specialist clinic of Orthodontics in Gothenburg, Sweden. Currently, she serves as the director of the postgraduate program in Orthodontics.

Dr Naoumova undertook her Bachelor’s in dental surgery in 2005 and her Master’s in dental surgery in 2007 from the University of Malmö, Sweden. She obtained her specialization in Orthodontics in 2010 in Gothenburg and took her PhD in 2014 from the University of Gothenburg.

She is active in teaching and training students as well as supervising several research projects. In her career as dental educator and orthodontist, she has published many peer-reviewed papers, received several prestigious awards including the Beni Solow prize for the best article in EJO in 2016 and has been honoured as an invited speaker at national and international congresses. Her main research interests are interceptive orthodontics, eruption disorders and orthodontic treatment of impacted teeth.

Dr. Ulla Pallesen
University of Copenhagen, Denmark

Ulla Pallesen has conducted her research and teaching carrier at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark for more than 45 years, now as Associate Professor at the Institute of Odontology, Section of Cariology and Endodontics.  She has published up to 30 years clinical results of longevity of posterior resin restorations. As a clinician ethics and non-invasive restorative treatment have had her special interest. She has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed international and Scandinavian journals and textbooks, and she has given lectures all over the World. She is member of international and national dental societies and has during the years received several rewards.

Prof. Neny (Panagiota) Pervanidou
National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece

Prof. Neny Pervanidou is a Professor of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and Head of the Unit of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics,  First Department of Pediatrics- School of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens/Athens, Greece. Prof. Pervanidou has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers and has participated in several European and International Conferences. She is the President of the Hellenic Society of Developmental Pediatricians and she has organized the 12 Annual Meetings of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics in Greece. Dr. Michal Sobczak
Private Practice, Warsaw, Poland

Dr. Sobczak is a paediatric dentist working in a private practice in Warsaw Poland, and is focused on paediatric patients and interdisciplinary treatment of patients after dental trauma. He is the founding member and President of Polish Academy of Paediatric Dentistry.

In 2016, he was awarded the title of Fellow of the International Association of Dental Traumatology (FIADT). Since 2020 he is part of the group of Directors of the International Association of Dental Traumatology, and from 2022 the Treasurer of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry (EAPD).

Prof. Georgios Tsilingaridis
Karolinska Institutet, Sweden

Georgios Tsilingaridis graduated at the Karolinska Institute in 1997. In 2004, he completed his pediatric dentistry specialisation at the Eastman Institute in Stockholm, and in 2013 he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Karolinska Institute. He is currently associate professor, head of the division of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry and vice dean at the department of Dental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet. He is also director of studies for all post-graduate education in the Region of Stockholm.

He is the past-president of the Swedish Society of Pediatric Dentistry and the past-president of the Swedish national group of directors for studies for postgraduate education. He is a board-member of the IADT and works in several committees in the IADT as well as in EAPD.

Georgios Tsilingaridis is also the author and co-author of several original scientific publications, co-author of Chapters 12, 16 and 17 in the Textbook and Color Atlas of Traumatic Injuries to the Teeth, 5th Edition, and co-author of the recently published IADT trauma guidelines.

Prof. Svante Twetman
University of Copenhagen, Denmark

Svante Twetman is professor emeritus at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen Denmark, and a licensed specialist in pediatric dentistry. The research covers the role of the oral biofilm in health and disease, risk assessment and caries prevention with fluorides and probiotic supplements in children and young adults. Throughout the years, he has combined clinical trials with explorative laboratory studies.

He has published over 275 peer-reviewed papers, contributed to several textbooks and received several international awards. He is currently chairing the advisory board of the Swedish Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Assessment of Social Services.

Prof. Chris Vernazza
Newcastle University, United Kingdom

Chris Vernazza is Head of School and Professor of Oral Health Services at Newcastle University’s School of Dental Sciences. His research interest is the application of health economics in oral health and he has extensive experience of working at the interface of policy and research. He currently practises as a consultant paediatric dentist at Newcastle Dental Hospital and has teaching responsibilities across oral health undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. He is society editor for the International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry and a trustee of British Society of Paediatric Dentistry, Alliance for a Cavity Free Future and Oral and Dental Research Trust.

Prof. Ferranti Wong

Ferranti Wong is a Professor / Honorary Consultant of Paediatrics Dentistry and Department Head of Paediatric Dentistry in the Institute of Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London. He is president elect of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry since 2022 and a member of the Dental Council, Fellow of the Advisory Board in Dental Education, of the Royal College of Surgeon, Edinburgh since 2019.

His past career includes being Interim Dean/Director for Dentistry (QMUL), Head of centre for Oral Growth and Development (QMUL), Associate Dean of Postgraduate Dentistry (London Deanery), Chair of Specialty Advisory Board in Paediatric Dentistry (RCSEd), Chair of the Clinical Affair Committee and Constitutional Committee (EAPD), Member of Advisory Board of Interdisciplinary Research Centre in Biomedical Materials (COMSATS, Pakistan), and a member of  Panel of Research Grant Committee (HKSAR). His research interests include dental materials, clinical trials and management of dental anomalies and trauma. He is also an external examiner (PhD, PG and UG) in various UK national and international institutions and membership examiner at RCSEd.

Ferranti Wong has also been invited as keynote speakers in international conferences including Europe, Malaysia and China.

Prof. Egija Zaura

Egija Zaura is University Research Chair Professor of Oral Microbial Ecology at the VU (Vrije Universiteit) University Amsterdam and at the Department of Preventive Dentistry at Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA), the Netherlands. She obtained her Dental degree in 1995 at Karolinska Institute, Sweden. After graduation, Egija combined her work in the dental clinic in Riga with accomplishing a degree in General Dentistry at Riga Stradins University, Latvia, in 1997. In 2002 she acquired a PhD in Preventive Dentistry, cum laude, at Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA).

Her research topics span from biofilm models and clinical studies to advanced molecular technologies in oral microbial diagnostics and complex sequencing data analyses. Her current principal interests lay on oral microbial ecology at health and disease, and translating this fundamental knowledge to the clinical practice.
